Rev. Terry Casey You have enlightened my life…

To the spirit of the late Reverend:

Terence Sidney Casey

15th December 1943 – 19th August 2005

‘In this case I have always been a Muslim only now I know’

(Rev Terry Casey, shortly before his sad demise)

A brief introduction:
Only a few months before starting this book, I met the most inspiring man in my life, the late Rev Terry Casey of Newtown, mid Wales !

We became friends very quickly and felt like two brothers who had been separated throughout their lives. Though he was a retired vicar, he confessed to me that he never believed in the Trinity and he had been struggling to separate the Roman influence from the real teaching Christ most of his life. He taught me a lot about the Bible in a few months and learned from my humble person a little, but it was vital to him! Sadly enough he was diagnosed suddenly with terminal cancer and was given only four months.

Before his death, we reached the conclusion that we were both of one faith, the monotheism of our father Abraham and that our creator is one Lord. He did not hesitate to tell me that he believed Mohammed was indeed a messenger of God and the Qur’an is a divine book, but the West needed to reflect more of what they tend to associate incorrectly with Islam, the attitude that harms more than helps. When I told him that believing in one God and accepting Mohammed as a prophet is the first and fundamental pillar of Islam, he smiled: ‘In this case I have always been a Muslim just I know now, and many like me in this country.’

His days were too short since I met him but they were the most inspiring in my life. Before he passed away on 19 August 2005 , he gave me a valuable gift, a private copy of the Bible that includes Arabic and English, and wrote to me this prayer:

[To Imad, My brother, My Dear friend. May the God of Abraham Bless you, and inspire you in your work and your writings. From your brother and friend Terry].

His incredible wisdom, endless knowledge, amazing humbleness and astonishing strength while dying were like a shining light that has enlightened my life since then! He seemed to me like somebody from above and it was a divine plan that we met only seven months before his death. His family was incredible too as they invited me to perform the Islamic prayer on his coffin in front of hundreds of his friends and loved ones before he was buried on the 25th of August!

I do believe that the Lord of Abraham accepted his prayer for me, as I was writing the Arabic version of this book only a few months after his death and started the English version immediately.

[Say: ‘O Muslims’ ,We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us ‘Qur’an’, and that which was sent down to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and to ‘Al-Asbat’ - the twelve sons of Jacob -, and in what was given to Moses and Jesus, and in what was given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him We have surrendered ‘became Muslims’]
